Determination of a Small Boy

There lived a child who has not had a father with his mother he loved most. The boy was about 10 years old. He was named Andra.

Andra always felt comfortable when he was by his mother's side. Andra was very fond of his mother, so did her mother. Andra’s mother also loved him and always tried to comfort Andra by her side.

Andra was a child who lacked confidence with a dull-looking, bespectacled, flat pony hair. However, there was only one person who always praised him, she was his mother. Andra had a dream, that he wanted to do slamdunk.

As to the age of 17, Andra’s mother suffered a disease recurrence. So his mother was treated in the hospital. When her mother admitted in the hospital, he said to Andra for always zealous in reaching goals and dreams it. But God had different will, her illness was getting worse, so his mother died.

Andra remained silent at the corner in his bedroom, crying all alone without someone who always accompanied and comforted him like before. Words spoken by his mother kept in his mind that made Andra had a spirit in reaching his dreams.

His friends thought that Andra was a fool who would try the impossible, because the Andra’s height looked impossible to do dunk. So instead they support the Andra, they always mocked and laughed at when they saw Andra practicing.

Andra then began getting irritated with the attitude of his friends were always teasing him. He wanted to prove to his friends that his height would not prevent him to do that.

Everyday, he practiced with the spirit. He ran about 1 hour, then jump rope and squat jump about 1000 times. He really hoped this training would accomplish his dream.

One time, his dream came true. Andra could reach a 3 meters basketball hoop with ease. He was very proud of the effort he had done every day with passion and hard work worthwhile. He was also proud to be able to keep its promise to the person he loved most although she had gone, his mother.

That made his friend didn’t brave to mock Andra again. They had not excommunicate Andra, even they are so pride with the success which reached by Andra.

Now Andra has a lot of friend because he has successfully render his dream. Andra's dream was not easily to be reached, need high motivation and workaday training to reach it.

            After college, Andra was chosen as one of Indonesian national basketball team player. Although Andra doesn't have tall body, but motivation and his talent in playing basketball can cover his disadvantage.
